Weekly Competitions | Trout Fisheries | Here’s how you can help.
We are currently approaching Trout Fisheries throughout Scotland about participating in our Fish of the week Competitions. We will add them to the Competition Fisheries section of the web site as and when they come aboard. Our fish of the week competitions will be for members only. There will be 3 categories Fish to 3 lb, Fish from 3 lb to 6 lb and Fish 6 lb and over. Members will be able to post one entry per week in each category of our Fish of the week competitions. The winner of each category will win a £20 tackle voucher (winners can select a voucher from any of the shops advertising on our web site home page) and a 4 hour catch and release ticket for the fishery they caught their fish at.
Can all members and visitors to our web site please ask when visiting Trout Fisheries if they will be taking part in the Scottish Fisheries weekly competitions. The more often a Trout Fishery gets asked this question the more likely it is to participate. We have up-loaded an album to our Facebook Page Scottish Fisheries called Fisheries, can you please have a look this album and hit like on any of the fisheries you would like to see participating in our competitions, once again the more likes a fishery receives the more likely it will be to participate in our competitions. As this album does not cover all areas, can all members and visitors please send an e-mail to survey@scottishfisheries.com with the name of any Trout Fisheries you would like to see taking part in our competitions (please include the fisheries you have voted for in our Facebook Album). This will allow us to target the Trout Fisheries our members and visitors to our web site prefer to fish.
Loch Leven | New Official Record Brown Trout
On the 8th 0f September 1911 Colonel Bob Scott caught a 9 lb 13 oz Brown Trout and set a record for Loch Leven which was to stand for 101years and 241 days.
On Tuesday 7th May 2013 Alan Campbell from Kirkcaldy re-wrote history. Not only has Alan set a new record he is also the first angler ever to land a double figure Brown Trout on Loch Leven. Alan’s Fabulous Brown Trout officially weighed in at 11 lbs 5 3/8 ozs. Alan’s fish has now been officially recorded as the biggest Brown Trout ever caught on Loch Leven.

Even though Alan is a regular before heading out he stopped to chat with Willie & Michael Wilson (aka the famous Willie The Ghillie and Son), acting on their advice he tied on a Black and Red buzzer and headed of to the Hole ‘o’ Inch where he hooked his monster Brownie. After an epic battle lasting over 15 minutes and testing Alan to his limit the net was finally slipped under his record fish.
